Huntington Transit Center; Kennewick, WA

Mr. Hall provided preliminary and final design, permitting, bidding
assistance, and construction inspection services to Ben Franklin
Transit for the project. The Transit Center is a paved transfer station
with the capacity to accommodate up to 10 forty-foot buses and has
approximately fifty off-street parking stalls.
Preliminary design activities included the development of five
alternative site layout plans, a discussion of their respective
advantages and disadvantages, and selection of the preferred plan.
Special consideration was given to abatement of the noise generated by
buses leaving the transit center simultaneously. The acoustical
subconsultant, R & W Engineering, formulated a design with an earthen
berm and retaining wall to limit the noise impact to the adjoining
residential property. Final plans and specifications were delivered
ahead of schedule, and the low construction bid was 7% below the
engineer's estimate. |
